The Southern Tier Athletic Conference will switch to a Small School and Large School Championship format, starting with this upcoming 2026-2027 school year.
Division winners from the West and Metro will meet in the STAC Large School Championship, and division winners from the Central and East will meet in the STAC Small School Championship. There will be no more semi-final games, as the division winners will go straight to their respective championship games.
This allows for better competitive balance for teams to compete for a championship, as STAC covers a wide range of schools from Class AAA to Class B and C. Also, it opens up more scheduling opportunities against different opponents, as teams will only need to save one game for the end of the season (in the past, they needed to keep two open slots for the STAC Playoffs).
