2023 Team Previews:

West
Corning Hawks (Class A)

Head Coach: Alyssa Helsing, 8th year
Key Athletes: Angie McKane (sr.), Kara Peters (sr.), Brooke Terwilliger (sr.)
Team Goals: We have an amazing group of student athletes, including many newcomers to the team.  We also have a wide range of ages, from our four 7th/8th graders all the way up to our five seniors.  Our upperclassmen have been invaluable with their leadership and in helping to create a supportive and team-centered environment.  We have already seen many best times/scorers from our swimmers and divers, and hope to see their hard work continue to pay off when tapering down for the Section IV Class A Championship in November.  They are embracing different events that the team needs, and hopefully we are able to be competitive for the sectional title.  Individually, we hope our seniors are able to continue their successful run at the state level!
Last Season: Finished 2nd in Section IV Class A Championship.  Kara Peters (200 Freestyle), Angie McKane (50 Freestyle, 100 Butterfly), Brooke Terwilliger (1 mtr Diving), 400 Freestyle Relay (McKane, Carolyn Heckle, Maria Kuksenkova, Peters) won Section IV Class A Championships.  McKane (50 Freestyle) won NYSPHSAA Federation and State Championships.  McKane (100 Butterfly) also won NYSPHSSA State Championship.  Terwilliger (1 mtr Diving) finished 8th.
