2023 Team Previews:
Corning Hawks (Class A)
Head Coach: Laura Wright, 5th year (9th overall)
Key Athletes: Every single one of them.
Team Goals: Do well at our Game Day competitions, as this is our first season competing.
Last Season: Did not compete at Game Day competitions.
Elmira Express (Class A)
Head Coach: Shelly Allen, 14th year
Key Athletes: Emersyn Garvin (sr.), Arielle Reese (sr.)
Team Goals: We have hired two new cheer coaches and a conditioning coach to work with our athletes from within this year. Our goal is to progress through skills that we already have and create a stronger team. Our JV program has diminished over the last few years, and we are also hoping to start building that up as well. Our season goal is to top our last year's scores at STAC, sectionals, and states.
Last Season: Finished 3rd at NYSPHSAA Class A Game Day West Competition.
Horseheads Blue Raiders (Class B)
Head Coach: Kayla Kuhns, 5th year (8th overall)
Key Athletes: Alivia Augustine (sr.), Olivia Giammichele (sr.), Lexie Ostrander (sr.), Andrea Benjamin (soph.)
Team Goals: This year we have a very young team, and our overall goal is to build technique and elite skills in our program. We have a lot of talent in our program, and we are very excited to see where this season takes us!
Last Season: Finished 3rd at NYSPHSAA Class B Game Day West Competition.
Ithaca Little Red (Class A)
Head Coach: Unique Leflore, 5th year

Team Goals: Get back on scholar athlete acknowledgment and place at competitions.
Binghamton Patriots (Class A)
Head Coach: Anna-Marie Conley, 23rd year
Key Athletes: Paige Murray (sr.), Kiara Wilson (sr.)
Team Goals: We have accomplished one of our main goals already at camp with team bonding. They are very close.
Last Season: Finished 2nd at NYSPHSAA Class A Game Day West Competition.
Johnson City Wildcats (Class B)
Head Coach: Lydia Mann, 9th year
Key Athletes: Ava Martinkovic (jr.), Landon Weiler (jr.), Imariana Leuci (jr.), Brooke Dyer (soph.)
Team Goals: We are attending a UCA Regional Competition for the first time with the ultimate goal of securing a spot at Nationals in Florida. The team is dedicated to enhancing stunt and tumbling skills, while also striving for greater precision in their motions.
Last Season: Finished 7th at NYSPHSAA Class C Game Day West Competition.
Maine-Endwell Spartans (Class B)
Head Coach: Natalie Nirchi, 10th year
Key Athletes: Brooklynne Nalepa (sr.), Isabella Montanye (sr.), Alivia Mandyck (jr.), Alexis Merrill (jr.), Cadance Wanglund (fresh.), Luci Montanye (fresh.)
Team Goals: Make it to the state championship in November!
Last Season: Finished 2nd at NYSPHSAA Class C Game Day West Competition.
Union-Endicott Tigers (Class B)
Head Coach: Andrea Guccia, 11th year (15th year)
Key Athletes: Veronica Bowman (sr.), Ava Greco (sr.)
Team Goals: Effective communication, build on our skills, and improve after each performance.
Last Season: Won STAC and NYSPHSAA Class B Game Day West Competitions.
Vestal Golden Bears (Class B)
Head Coach: Erin Schultz, 7th year (11th overall)
Key Athletes: Emmilene Griffiths (sr.), Lilly Tripp (sr.), Nicole Wowk (sr.), Mackenzie Allis (sr.), Ava Stevens (soph.)
Team Goals: Improve each athlete's individual abilities like jumps and tumbling skills. We are also working towards getting more difficult stunts! Our goal is to make it to sectionals then states this season.
Last Season: Finished 3rd at NYSPHSAA Class C Game Day West Competition.
Chenango Forks Blue Devils (Class C)
Head Coach: Kody Smyder, 6th year (9th overall)
Key Athletes: Jada Williams (sr.), Amelia Tasber (sr.), Cassidy Kelly (sr.)
Team Goals: Develop the young team and improve upon our technique and performance qualities.
Last Season: Won the NYSPHSAA Class D Game Day West Competition.
Chenango Valley Warriors (Class C)
Head Coach: Sarah Fernald, 3rd year
Key Athletes: Melissa Giammarino (soph.), Ryleigh Hawley (fresh.)
Team Goals: Qualify for sectionals and compete at the state competition.
Last Season: Finished 2nd at NYSPHSAA Class D Game Day West Competition.
Seton Catholic Saints (Class C)
Head Coach: Rita Zielewicz, 1st year (2nd overall)
Key Athletes: Erin Lewis (sr.), Sarah Fiacco (jr.)
Team Goals: Get stronger with stunting and tumbling. Hope to see improvement with basic skills so that we can advance to a more difficult level.
Last Season: Finished 3rd at NYSPHSAA Class D Game Day West Competition.
Waverly Wolverines (Class C)
Head Coach: Anndrea Bill, 1st year (Assistant Coach – Danette Rought)
Key Athletes: Madeline McConnell (sr.), Alison Barret (sr.), Brenae Tedesco (sr.)
Team Goals: This is our first year in STAC, which brings new jitters but also new opportunities. Within STAC we are super excited to compete in the Game Day competitions! This is totally new and exciting! One of my goals as Coach is to maintain a healthy squad with a large number of cheerleaders. I am hoping to do this with having a solid core program along with a certain stability from the Modified level all the way up through Varsity.
Last Season: Competed in the Interscholastic Athletic Conference (IAC). Did not compete in Game Day competitions.
Norwich Purple Tornado (Class C)
Head Coach: Nancy Swertfager, 1st year (35th overall)
Key Athletes: It’s a young, rebuilding team with one junior, three sophomores, and four freshmen
Team Goals: Bring some of the traditions back and rebuild school spirit.
Susquehanna Valley Sabers (Class C)
Head Coach: Katie Fedorwich, 5th year (8th total)
Key Athletes: Allure McCune (jr.), Hayden Fedorwich (sr.), Addisen Cokely
Team Goals: Get that Disney bid!
Last Season: Finished 4th at NYSPHSAA Class D Game Day West Competition.
Windsor Black Knights (Class C)
Head Coach: Kelly Singleton, 6th year (15th overall)
Key Athletes: Alyssa Rogers (sr.), Rachel Shirvan (sr.), Kearsten Jackson (sr.), Kiersten Brundege (sr.)
Team Goals: I've got big plans for my athletes this year!! We will be working closely with the youth cheer program as mentors, forming Big Sister/Little Sister relationships. We will also be supporting not only the football program, but other programs within the district. We will also have a strong focus on community, academics, and mental health, all while cheering at weekly football games. And for the first time ever, we will be participating in Game Day Competition.
Last Season: Did not field a varsity team.
